2004.02.02 Racing Game but one for GCN
Another episode of average games...
R: Racing Evolution | PS2/GCN/XBox
Dark Ages of Camelot: Trials of Atlantis | PC
Magic: The Gathering -- Battlegrounds | XBox |
But ... I'm do believe someone here (Shawn Liu) has a better idea of how the game, Dark Ages of Camelot: Trials of Atlantis (his DAoC site) is like.
Gawd... just look at all those polygons... so real...
Due to the maturity rating of the game, we're not able to show you screenshots from the game Sexy Beach 2 from Japan. -- sowwy.
But let's see if you can say this 3 times fast:
... and once you've sat enough pool swimming, jump roping, ball bouncing and weird monkey-critter snuggling to confuse the most healthy libido...
Man that Sexy Beach was something else...But they had to show Raiden again @_@ ahhh my eyes
Why Morgan Why!?
On paper, DAoC Trials of Atlantis is a pretty nice expansion pack. The graphics upgrade is very sweet and there is a ton of new content for high-level players (which people have been aching for). There are, however, two main issues that would have made me give a lower rating.
1) Massive time sink for new abilities: For many of the new items and "trials" you can quest for, the time spent simply farming - to both acquire and level these new abilities (a new element has items that gain experience) - by killing the same monsters over and over is terribly mind numbing. It really takes away from the whole Player vs. Player focus, which is where DAoC truly shines. This is a terrible shame since...
2) The new skills abilities are totally, absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, 100% needed for PvP: Numerous reports have sprung up regarding teams who can do with 16 players what before could only be done with 50+, simply because of these new abilities. Not only are they terribly unbalancing to the 3-faction combat scheme, but it creates a further divide from the "haves/hardcore players" and the "have-nots/casual players".
From a sales per box perspective, yes, Trials of Atlantis is a solid expansion pack. But in practice, many of the corners the devs are coding themselves into are ultimately hurting the overall playing experience.
2... out of 5...
And yeah... I pretty much wet myself in /gu when I saw them review it.
Average show. It was still funny though. Like Adam's face all over the Sexy Beach 2 review, haha. Funny even though it ruined the mood of it all.
Miss 5-Star Webb's revenge of naked Raiden...that's just pure funny to me, too.
